In all the infinite universes, there was sure to be one in which Stephen Strange didn't survive his car accident, and in this, particular version of such an event, Christine had been with him. It had been a different path that led her to magic. The universe needed a new sorcerer, be it Stephen or someone else.

She had trained and devoted herself to the mystical arts just as she had devoted herself to medicine. Healing magic and defensive spells came most naturally for her, it was in her blood to help. In this universe Christine Palmer became an incredible power, she saved countless lives.

Of course, she had never truly stopped mourning Stephen, but she carried on and fought in his memory.

When the walls between universes started to crack it was as if a call was put out for all the Sorcerers in every universe to find ways to help repair the cracks.

Something was coming and she could feel it. She was pacing around the Sanctum, whatever was on the way was going to come here, of that she was certain.

"You know how sensitive my stomach can be, I doubt entities of the dark dimension would sit well."

She's willing to make personal sacrifices as payment, she's not the type to take on dark energies. But she will make a joke about it.

[mysticaldoctor]

"I ate some galaxy destroying level energy once. Wasn't that bad." He'll joke back, because why not. He missed this and even if they just get a little bit, that's alright. It won't be long enough either way.

[drpalmer]

She snorts a laugh.

"Didn't even give you gas? You've a stomach of steel."

It really is nice to just get to laugh, she thinks it's been too long since she's just told stupid jokes.

[mysticaldoctor]

"Really bad acid reflux." He was smiling at this, even though that was a hard fight he missed being able to tell someone about it. "Probably that's the dragon, Fin Fang... known for consuming Soul Eaters... and not being ill-effected by it."

[drpalmer]

"Hear that comes with your advanced age." She is absolutely beaming at getting to tease him.

"You have a dragon? I can't even pretend that's not cool."

[mysticaldoctor]

"More than one." His eyes glowed, and the wings unfurled a little, but - it wasn't ... as reptilian as he was expecting.

"Well... maybe just one now, but it definitely has three heads."

He lifted his arm and there was definitely three sets of dragon eyes there, under his cape.

[drpalmer]

Her eyes grow wide but she looks almost gleeful.

"I've always wanted to see a dragon. Though it would likely be trying to kill me at the time, so it wouldn't be as fun as I'd want it to be."

[mysticaldoctor]

The necks extend out, curious to see her. "Be nice," Stephen said, though his voice sounded odd still. He seemed pleased though - that he got to show her this.

[drpalmer]

"Hello there." She has the voice of someone greeting a dog for the first time.

They're definitely dragon-like, but they seem curious; it's been a long time in his prison galaxy after all.

[mysticaldoctor]

The creatures curled around her hand curiously - not speaking in words, necessarily - they could hurt if they wanted - if the situation required, but they clearly were ... okay being an extension of Stephen - not all of them had been - the ones that didn't want to stay were now more part of the multiverse foundation. But they clearly liked Christine.

[drpalmer]

"Aren't you beautiful?" They really were something incredible, still that wispy darkness, but their form was much clearer.

"I like them." She looks to Stephen with a smile.

[mysticaldoctor]

The creatures curled around her, pleased with being complimented and flattered - not unlike Stephen himself, but he liked watching her.

"I think that's good? I mean they are interdemensional powerful creatures that apparently like ... being part of me."

[drpalmer]

She seems rather at home with dark entities around her.

There's a little laughs, "aw, can they be our inderdemensional creatures now?"

Teamwork and all.

[mysticaldoctor]

"I suppose there's no reason to say no." He wondered if his Christine would have thought him monstrous after that - during the act he didn't care what power he had to acquire, though - now - with not all of them competing, he felt a bit better.

He couldn't just abandon them, either - some that were part of the foundation, wanted to go, and he had let them.

[drpalmer]

"Since these ones have chosen to stay, the must like you at least a little."

This Christine doesn't think him monstrous at all. She could have seen a world in which she took a similar path to find enough power. Maybe there is a universe that collapsed because she did.

[mysticaldoctor]

"They must, I - I tried not to keep any forcibly when I saw the chance when --- the ... creatures wanted to go to be part of ... those universes - perhaps that's where they belonged. Either way they were helping."

He takes her hand, slowly.

[drpalmer]

She weaves her fingers between his.

"You helped them, in the end." She's rather impressed by it.

[mysticaldoctor]

"In the end, yes. Not sure it makes up for the initial... force." He knew Christine - any Christine, even not-his - would not be proud of that nor should they.

He leans closer. "I should very much like to kiss you, if I might."

[drpalmer]

"No, it wasn't exactly ideal." This Christine at least understands what drove him to it.

She doesn't answer that, instead she closes the space between them to kiss him.

[mysticaldoctor]

He leans in and closes his eyes, trying to remember everything about this and what it felt like. The feel of her lips on his.

[drpalmer]

She's doing much the same, it's been so long since she's kissed anyone.

Kissing him is familar and different in equal measure, but it's wonderful.

[mysticaldoctor]

He pulls back a little when he feels she might need to breathe properly and brushes his finger against her cheek. "It's been... a long time." He would have thought she might have moved on - and - oddly - he would have accepted it, as long as she was alive.

[drpalmer]

She rests her forehead against his, a happy little smile on her lips. She was determined to savor every moment she was allowed to have with him.

"I tried a few dates, a year or so after, but nothing felt right."

[mysticaldoctor]

"How'd you get interested in the Mystic Arts?" He wants to know a lot of things, and enjoys being this close.

[drpalmer]

"I met the Ancient One, here in the city, on the sidelines of one of the many fights Tony Stark got into." The closeness is really lovely. "There was a pull, almost, like the magic was looking for me."
